The import-export structure

Uganda mainly imports:

  • Defence goods
  • Manufactured goods
  • Fuel or petroleum products
  • Chemicals and pharmaceuticals
  • Consumer goods
  • Skilled manpower
  • Machinery
  • Foods and beverages
• Services e.g air and water transport, banking, insurance, etc.

On the other hand, Uganda exports mainly include:

  • A few manufactured products
  • Mineral products
  • Animal products e.g leather
  • Tourism
  • Foods and beverages
  • Coffee, cotton, tobacco
  • Fish and fish products
  • Non traditional exports e.g. beans, vanilla, simsim, flowers.
  • Hydro electric power (HEP)
